Consultations

Consultations are booked by appointment only. Patients may make an appointment with a doctor of their choice. We aim to provide same day care for urgent cases. The need for an urgent appointment will be assessed by telephone consultation by the duty doctors and urgent appointments will be given if needed.

Appointments

Appointments can be made by telephoning the surgery on 0161 248 6644 or by calling into the surgery. The reception staff will routinely ask the reason for the appointment so they can direct you to the most appropriate Health Care Professional. Currently, we book up to one week in advance with all our Practice Nurses and up to 48 hours with all Doctors.

The Bodey Medical Centre has been established in the Fallowfield area of Manchester for over 40 years. Increasingly the Fallowfield area of Manchester has become populated by students from The University of Manchester and the Manchester Metropolitan University. Student residences at Owens Park, Oak House, Richmond Park, Ashburne Hall and Woolton Hall form a large proportion of this cosmopolitan area of Manchester.

We provide GP Doctor consultations as well as nurses appointments for everyday medical problems. We run a dedicated sexual health service as well as an 'on the day' clinic for urgent clinical needs.

Students at the university are reminded that they are required to register with a local GP doctor when studying and staying in Fallowfield Manchester.

Although a large proportion of our local Fallowfield population is student we do still provide GP doctor and General Practice medical surgery services to other members of our community just like any other GP surgery, so all members of the community are welcome to register.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10am if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.

Blood Tests at the Practice

We do have a phlebotomist that comes to the Surgery:

   Tuesdays between 10:00am and 11:00am

   Thursdays between 11:00am and 12:00am.

This is by appointment only  (you can make an appointment at the reception desk or over the telephone).

We would appreciate it however, if priority for these appointments could be  given to disabled or elderly patients who have trouble travelling to Withington Community Hospital.

Fasted Blood tests

If you have been told that you need a ‘fasted’ blood test (usually needed to check cholesterol and glucose levels), then you should have nothing to eat or drink other than plain water from midnight before the test.

Children

• Aged <2 years – These are arranged with the Paediatric Day Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital.
• Aged 2-12 years old – Mondays only 13:30-15:20hrs, Phlebotomy Room, Clinic 4, Wythenshawe Hospital Out-Patient Department.

X-rays

These can be done at the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) or Withington Community Hospital.

The doctor or nurse will ask you where you would prefer to have your x-ray taken.

For MRI – Take the x-ray form to the X-Ray Department at the MRI, in Purple Zone – near A&E, between 09:00-16:00hrs, Monday-Friday.

For Withington - Take the x-ray form to the Withington Community Hospital X-ray Dept (0161-217-3724), between 09:00-10:30hrs or 14:00-15:30hrs Monday-Friday.
